About Medical Technologies

Medical Technologies is a cohesive team of dedicated professionals serving the field of audiology and related medical specialties in the north central U.S. (including Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and northwestern Wisconsin) from offices in Burnsville, Minnesota and Omaha, Nebraska.

Medical Technologies is the result of the merger of two previously competitive companies, Electromedic (founded in Minnesota in 1974 by R. L. Millier), and Midlands Special Instruments (founded in Nebraska in 1978 by Jim Schilling).  The two companies became Medical Technologies in 1990 when they joined forces.  Jim Schilling became sole proprietor in 1997.

WHAT WE DO

Medical Technologies provides the following services and product types to health professionals in our market area:

  • Consultation - Whether our customers are just getting started, planning to grow, considering exit strategies or addressing other practice issues, Medical Technologies works with them to identify instrumentation needs and priorities, integrate new with existing equipment and database capacity, and implement new procedures and technologies.
  • Continuing Education - Since 1974, Medical Technologies has kept its finger on the pulse of the healthcare marketplaces we serve, advancing new concepts and technologies to enhance our customers’ practices, help them meet continuing education requirements and allow them to realize their visions for the future.  Courses and trainers are approved by the appropriate professional association.
  • Product and Application Training – Medical Technologies provides a thorough in-service and detailed training for all products delivered by our team.
  • Instrumentation - Medical Technologies constantly evaluates the offerings of the entire market to identify the best available instrumentation.  We carefully select vendors based on product quality, serviceability, integrity and longevity, and represent only the leading units from each product category.  Medical Technologies is proud to represent a wide range of products and product categories.
  • Calibration and Service - Medical Technologies works in tandem with the manufacturers of your equipment by honoring and servicing manufacturer's warranties, performing annual calibrations and ensuring the highest level of service possible.  It is our goal to maximize efficiency for the health professionals we serve by minimizing down-time resulting from equipment malfunction.  That's why we developed our Extended Care Service Plan.  Each member of our service team earns and maintains NASED certification.
  • Parts and Service - Since many of the tools used in diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology regularly come into direct patient contact, infection control guidelines may require that they be cleaned, disinfected, sterilized or disposed of to prevent contamination from bodily fluids.  Medical Technologies stocks a wide variety of these items, including:
    • insert earphone receivers
    • headphones
    • infection control earphone covers
    • immittance and otoacoustic emissions probe tips
    • electrodes
    • otoscope specula
    • probe microphone tubes for real ear measurement.

In addition to helping you meet infection control guidelines by replacing disposable items that could serve as cross contaminants, Medical Technologies stocks cables, cords, speakers and other replacement parts to repair and support the equipment we deliver.
